My significant other and I went here the other Friday, and we were so impressed. The food, fantastic. The service, awesome. We really couldn't have asked for anything more.

From the first moment we walked in the manager welcomed us warmly. He, Ramazan, was the icing on top of a delicious, delicious cake. He gave us terrific and reasonable suggestions. He told us all about the place, and even got us into after dinner dessert shots.

I can not give this restaurant more praise. The only negative is the distance, so we were thrilled to here they were making efforts to open a branch in Puxi!

It'd be worth getting fat for.

Very nice location near subway station. It is on first floor of a small shopping mall with beautiful view out in a small park. That`s unique, especially in this Pudong neighborhood.
Very large menue. I had a combination of different cold appetizers, which were nicely presented on the plate and tasted very good. Also the main course, sheep meat with various other ingredients.
Maybe here some light critic comment: Selection of menue bases very much on sheep, a little bit less on chicken, but nearly no beef.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, prices in normal ranges for such kind of restaurant.
    Will definitly come back!

My friends and I have been in Shanghai for over 3 months and this is by far the best meal we have had. The service was absolutely wonderful and the setting was just perfect. Within walking distance from the heart of the city. This is a must eat location whether you're in Shanghai for a couple days or a couple years. Shanghai is known for it's international cuisine and Efes raises the bar and sets the example for the rest of the city. We had the Adana Kebab platter along with a mixture of pita's. If you're looking for an amazing array of spices and flavors that will leave you wanting more, the Adana Kebab is the plate for you. The minced lamb and beef is simply spectacular. The freshness of the pita is simply uncontested.

Now just when we thought we were finished we decided to order the Kunefe for desert. This was my first time having this dish and if you come to Efes and pass on it you are simply missing out. The mild sweetness mixed with the bitterness of the best cup of coffee I have had in all of China is the perfect way to top off what will be an unforgettable dinner. After eating here the only thing I can think about is traveling to Turkey to enjoy all of the wonderful food. I do not only recommend that you dine at Efes, but I require it!

We discovered Efes about 9 months ago and keep coming back at least once in a month.
A visit always starts with a very warm and decent welcome mostly by the owner himself. It is a small, nicely decorated restaurant with a hint of privacy and romance and the staff is providing a good service.
Besides the starters you can choose from the menu, they offer a number of them right form a tray. The mains cover meats from beef chicken and lamb and also a choice of seafood. The dishes reflect the real Turkish cuisine by all means and the Turkish chef grants original flavors. The highlights are the lamb dishes and the Turkish salad. Who likes sweet deserts will not be disappointed.
The wines they offer reflect a very nice choice fitting well to the offered food. Typical Turkish liquor called Raki is a special experience and is besides the taste an excellent digestive.
Prices are in a medium range and value for money is great. Efes is always worth a visit.

Went to Efes with 4 friends on a weeknight. Location is at Shangcheng Lu in Pudong, so some minor complaints from the Puxi-crowd, but Shangcheng Lu is the first station in Pudong on Line 9 so really isn't too far. Restaurant is not the easiest to locate, on the ground floor of the 1885 Square. I've been looking for some top-notch Turkish food and kebabs and Efes completely fits the bill. I don't feel it is an exaggeration to say it the finest Turkish in Shanghai and I have tasted it all.

Service here is fantastic with 2 Turkish Head Waiters/Managers overseeing a small staff of Chinese waiters/busboys. The head waiter was extremely attentive and helpful in suggesting dishes for a great group meal. This really made a difference because his recommendations were spot on. We got a mixed grilled meat plate, various middle eastern dips, grilled, stuffed and cold vegetables and a beef and cheese Turkish Pide. Head waiter also came back at various points to check if the food was to our liking - rarely a feature at restaurants in Shanghai, but a nice touch.

The cold appetizers come out on a cart for you to choose, “dim-sum style” and featured an impressive variety of tastes. Very notable were a very spicy dip for bread/veggies (not hummus but similar) and the stuffed vegetables (eggplants, zucchinis). As good as the cold appetizers were, the high point of the meal was the grilled meat. The meat here is fantastic, immaculately grilled kebabs, lamb chops, chicken legs and wings, all the meat was made up of all good cuts, juicy, tender and wonderfully seasoned. Without a doubt, this is some of the most delicious meat to be tasted in all of Shanghai. Beef and Cheese Pide is also great and rounded out the meal nicely.

Efes doesn't seem to have many customers, based on my 2 visits so far. I can only guess that this is attributable to the location, because the overall quality of this restaurant is amazing. It's totally worth the short trip required from Puxi, although the majority of the Puxi-crowd with the exception of a few committed foodies might not give it a chance. All my friends agreed at the end of the night that this was a great meal and worth the time and price.

All in, the bill came out to around 250 RMB per person which included a bottle of red wine and a bottle of sparkling white. Efes isn't the cheapest restaurant in Shanghai, but price point is very attractive and represents terrific value when held up against the quality of the food.

I highly recommended Efes to all non-vegetarians, it is good in pretty much every respect!
