FYI: Shelter Back Open from Wednesday
By Morgan Short, Jul 1st, 2010 | In
Hi everybody. Just a heads up, The Shelter is back to being open from Wednesdays again. A month or so back, the basement club was shut down completely for a little while, and then compelled to open up only on Friday and Saturdays. But now the dust has settled and they're back to hosting Wednesday and Thursday nights as well.
On Wednesdays the "Swap Meet" parties will be returning, which is a house music / local visual arts kind of joint, and on Thursdays they're rotating a few things around -- a soul night (Feel Soul Good), a '90s hip hop / retro thing (Teenage Kicks), and a few others.
This Thursday -- tonight that is -- they've got Drunk Monk (nee Gaz; Uprooted Sunshine, Sub-Culture) digging into to his catalog, putting together a five-hour set. He's doing "jazz and soul, to reggae and funk, up to dubstep and dnb."
