2010 Zhenjiang Midi Festival Line Up Released
By Morgan Short, Aug 23rd, 2010 | In Dining
Yeah, it's not in Shanghai, but it's fairly close...
The city of Zhenjiang -- about 3 hours from Shanghai by train -- will host its second Midi Festival from October 1 to 4. Concert organizers have released the majority of their line-up, which is available for viewing at the always astute rockinchina.com, right here.
Some background if you're a n00b: Midi Festival comes to Zhenjiang from Beijing, and despite a few bumps in the road along the way, Midi is China's original and most well-known rock music festival. Midi moved from China's capital in 2009 to Zhenjiang for the first time, and based on the perceived success of that outing, they're doing it again this year in October.
So the bands... As in years prior, the line-up pairs Chinese bands with international bands, and this year it's a veritable who's who of Beijing rock (read: the dudes they get to play every year), along with a veritable who? from the Euro metal / folk world.
From the home team: Brain Failure, Miserable Faith, Subs, Demerit, Exit A, Muma, Suffocated, XTX, and more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like Shanghai will have representation on that bill... Cold Fairyland, where are you? Sonnet? Mushrooms? Loudspeaker? Chaos Mind? Top Floor Circus? Nah? Aight. S'cool.
From the visiting team: The Agonist, Finntroll, Acoustic Sense, The Baboon Show, Monica Friere, The Vasco Era, and more. Alas, I haven't heard of any of those bands, but I suggest heading off right now to Finntroll's webpage up there because they appear to indeed be from Finland and indeed dressed up like trolls.
As a side note, they're on some next level shit up there in Finland. Remember that band with their own customized broad swords? Yeah, good idea though... I guess one does not just walk into Mordor...
Again, all this Midi line-up info comes from rockinchina.com, and they're your English-language source for all things Midi -- info on getting there, getting tickets, packing what you need... lambas bread, elven rope, Sting, the one true ring...
More bands are still to be announced, so keep tabs on that one...
