RiceBurger 108
By Christopher St Cavish, Aug 26th, 2010 | In Nightlife
What do you get when you replace the bun of a hamburger with rice patties, and the burger with fried chicken, roast pork, or potato croquettes? The rice burger.
I stumbled on RB108 recently while wandering around the Taikang Lu of Gubei, Ronghua Xi Dao. It's not cute or bohemian but it is a collection of small Japanese and Korean restaurants, stores, services, groceries, ramen shops, etc. housed in the local architecture: tiled high-rise compounds.
Rice burgers' provenance is squarely linked to Japan's fast-food MOS Burger. They introduced it in 1987. Even McDick's Taiwan has copied it. Is it good? Don't know. Three Dianping users have smushed it. But if you like to adventure, here's RB108's full menu. Quick sampling:
#2: Grilled Pork and Kimchi Rice Burger, 15rmb
#6: Fried Chicken Leg Rice Burger, 15rmb
#13: Potato Croquette Rice Burger, 12rmb
And here's their details.
