Weekend Casulties: Long Bar
By Morgan Short, Nov 29th, 2010 | In Nightlife
A Shanghai institution goes quietly into that good night: Long Bar at the Shanghai Centre.
Here's Marcus Treamer of The Oxford Holdings with what they're doing with the space:
"For 20 years the Long Bar at Shanghai Centre has been an drinking institution known and loved by generations of expats. In recent years the venue has been left behind as consumer tastes have changed and the F&B industry has increasingly looked to the luxury sector for its inspiration and clientele.
It is with this in mind that this week we say goodbye to a Shanghai legend, thank it for all the good times and look towards the future. Over the winter months we will be completely gutting the Nanjing Xi Lu venue, then building a completely new concept. CVRVE (pronounced Curve) will open in early spring and bring to the area a much needed quality cocktail and casual dinning establishment to rival those found in the former French Concession and The Bund."
The Oxford Holdings have another immanent lounge project, Upper East, which is scheduled to be receiving people at the end of December. Keep an eye out for that as well.
