'Happy Together': 696 Weihai Free-For-All
By Morgan Short, Mar 25th, 2009 | In Dining
As is their predilection to do so from time to time, local artist "incubator" 696 Weihai Lu are throwing open their doors for a 25-artist open house on April 18-19.
If you didn't know, 696 is home to a variety of artists, including painters, sculptures, dancers, designers, photogs, and the like, and is touted one of Shanghai's many former opium storage complexes.
And it's all true. The stench of that sweet, sweet opium still lingers in the air at 696, and if you take a big snuuuuuck off the walls in there you get a righteous buzz.
Around 25 of the workshops will be taking part, and musical performers have been invited to play as well.
