Jinshan Calling: Crazy Summer Beach Party
By Morgan Short, Jun 18th, 2009 | In Nightlife
As you might have heard by now an outdoor music festival is taking place in Jinshan from July 17-19 (that's Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Jinshan is about an hour from Shanghai by bus on the coast. The Crazy Summer Beach Festival runs from 2pm to 2am on all three days and there's two stages of DJs and bands.
They've arranged the music on each day loosely according to genre. Day 1 is "China Rock Power", Day 2 is Electronic and Hip Hop, and Day 3 is "Original Pop Stars". On their main stage it's more established acts, and on their second stage is more "underground" acts. That's the idea anyways. Music starts at 6pm on each day.
Here's the lineup (subject to changes I would imagine):
Day 1: China Rock Power
Main Stage: Xue Zhiqian, Yu Siyuan, Wang Xiao Kun; Cai Jian Ya (Singapore); Wang Feng(China); Yang Naiwen (Taiwan); Fan Yi Chen (Taiwan)
Second Stage: Boojii (Shanghai); Self party (Hangzhou); MOJO (Beijing); LAVA|OX|SEA (Hefei); Loudspeaker (Shanghai); and more TBC.
Day 2: Electronic and Hip Hop
Main Stage: Redstar (Shanghai); Cookie and Dancer (Taiwan); J-Six and Angle (Taiwan); First State (Netherlands); Mark Norman (UK); Lange (Netherlands); Solar Stone (UK)
Second Stage: All your favorite Shangahi-based DJs, including Fish; Yen; elnomo; MHP; Trix; Kidplastik; and R3
Day 3: Original Pop Stars
Main Stage: Qiao Ren Liang (China); Champion (Taiwan); Ke Youlun (Taiwan); Peng Tan (China); Sodagreen (Taiwan); Cheer Chen (Taiwan)
Second Stage: GuaiLi (Beijing); Sonnet (Shanghai); The Mushrooms (Shanghai); 8 Eye Spy (Nanjing); Fusion and more TBC
A pretty eclectic line up and a good thing to do if you're looking to get out of Shanghai for a weekend this summer. This one has the approval of the Jinshan fuzz so it looks like it's all systems go. Head on down to support your Shanghai bands and/or DJs.
Tickets are available for single days (120rmb) or for all three days (300rmb), and there is a bunch of other non-music outdoor activities and shit going on: food, sports, uh, booths of stuff.
It looks like SmartTicket will be doing ticket delivery for this event as well, so surf on back next week if you're fixing to go to this thing and we'll have other logistical information for you as well (transport, hotels, etc…).
