R.I.P: Bonito

Here's a shocker. Bonito has closed. For good.

Why? That's between the Bonito guys, The Loft people, and God.

Business was apparently good. The closing was suspiciously sudden. Something doesn't add up. Apparently, it's the outcome of two days of "meetings" that started yesterday and ended this evening with the confirmation that they're gone. Not even time to get back in there for a closing party.

Whatever it was, it's a shame. Chin up, guys.

A real pity, Bonito was one of my favorite restaurants in Shanghai and one of a few where I kept going back at least twice a month. The location wasn't that great but I though they had made the best out of it. All the best to Ferran and Albert, great guys.

By the way, I heard a while ago that they were looking at opening a new location near the Fuxing Lu and Hengshan/Baoqing Lu crossroads. Maybe they'll reopen there?
