Reminder: A Taste of Red
By Sarah Hammer, Mar 18th, 2010 | In Dining
The Jue Festival steam rolls everything this weekend, and with Trippple Nippple and Optimo both on for Friday, it's arguably the biggest night of the whole affair.
We would, however, humbly remind you that the dramatic arts portion of the festival -- 5th Wall's A Taste of Red -- is also happening this weekend, with Saturday and Sunday performances at River South Arts Center.
The gist:
"A Taste of Red is a multi-media performance installation through which a story is told. Utilising synaesthesia as a structural theme (in which multiple senses are triggered as an audience experience), the narrative of the last moments of a woman’s life is juxtaposed against the narrative of a rapidly changing city."
Some background:
5th Wall is a theatre group comprised of local artists coming from a bunch of different backgrounds -- stage, film, writing, music, dance, visual arts, etc. -- collaborating on experimental theatre pieces. They previously staged a show called "Marriage Counseling" in the River South Arts Center, which was a performance broken up into three acts staged in on two floors. It was quite good. Here's some photos of that. Click past the fancy people posing and there's some performance shots in there.
The details:
There are two performances of A Taste of Red -- this Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are 100rmb in advance and 150rmb at the door. Advance tickets can be reserved by sending an email to 5thwalltheater@gmail.com. Show time is at 5pm.
