Like a Thief in the Night: aFP Disappeared, Reincarnated

By Christopher St Cavish, Mar 24th, 2010 | In Nightlife

A Future Perfect is getting a new future.

They have been sucked into the David Laris Creations blackhole, from which they can only emerge with a slickly stylized new image, a thoughtful mix of modernized classics, and a receipt from Laris's patented Restaurant Naming Machine.

The algorithm works like Madlibs: The ________ (adjective) ________ (food item).

The Fat Olive. The Funky Chicken. The Pie Hole (a slight deviation, but close enough). And, now, The Purple Onion, which is what A Future Perfect is going to be dubbed. I'm as sick of talking about Laris as you are of hearing about him, but the dude is on a tear across the city. He's making Eduardo Vargas look lazy. His corporate group, DLC, won't talk to me about The Purple Onion, so it's anyone's guess about what it will be. Organic space produce?

In the course of calling around about this, I discovered that a Future Perfect closed -- in December! That was a tragically quiet escape...

According to The Old House Inn, to which the space is connected, renovations are underway right now and this new, purplish thing will be ready around May 1.
