This looks like something you want to see if you’re staying in Shanghai this week and next: a massive new media art show set out on the North Bund Riverside Park
. Twenty-one super-size, dome-shaped screens will be set up along a one kilometer stretch — the event is called One KM
— with each dome showing art by different global artists and tech manufacturers. Already, interest is building in “Samskara”, a 2015 piece by the art director of the movie Avatar
, produced in collaboration with Fulldome, a production company that specializes in these type of projections. It will show in a dome 25-meters in diameter. What else!
Another 12-meter dome will be specifically for playing VR gamers. A 4D movie theater will screen adventure films for children. Then there’s going to be light shows and other tech wizardy. Starts on September 25 and runs until October 7. From September 25-27, it’s from 6-10pm and then 10am-10pm from the 28 until the end. Ticket prices start at 49rmb but vary depending on what areas you enter. See the event listing with address details here.
