The Burger Race

Missed this one in the last Active Shanghai, but RunnersHai and burger chain Charlie’s is putting on a ‘Burger Race’; a 6km run and scavenger hunt where everyone’s a winner, awarded with a beer at the end; but the top three male and females runners will be given juicy burgers as trophies. Entry fee is 75rmb; the race starts at Charlie's on Fengsheng Lu—but you need to register beforehand through WeChat: RunnersHai.

Volunteer with Stepping Stones to Teach English

Stepping Stones - NGO Centre, 12/F, No. 6, 1279 Zhongshan X...

Stepping Stones is now recruiting volunteers to join its Classroom Teaching Program to teach English to migrant children in Shanghai for the spring semester. The commitment is once a week for a full school term with a minimum of 8 weeks teaching. Training sessions will be conducted in February—no prior teaching experience is required. One More Glass: A Night of Sketch Comedy

Offline Game Design Workshop

Calling all nerds—I mean gamers—here’s a workshop on offline game design, yeah like board games, but with a role playing element. Hosted by Tony Shong, who’s got over 16 years of creating interactive experiences. 100rmb includes one drink. Free for members. Who knows maybe one day you’ll make your own Cones of Dunshire.



During this event, the Directors of College Counseling at Shanghai American School will explain how college admissions really works and how to effectively partner with your child’s college counselor. Broadly speaking, their admission presentation will address pervasive myths around the college admission process, and ones that lurk around a student's mindset in high school. Free.
