Joining in the conversation will be Zheng Fei, who runs Mr. Forest, a sustainable timber company in Mozambique, and founder of Chinese think tank ISEE, Dr. Pan Tao. A separate screening of the film, in English with Chinese subtitles, will happen on Wednesday.
Demain is a solution-focused, feel-good documentary, with an indie pop soundtrack. Unlike most environmental documentaries such as Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth or DiCaprio's Before the Flood, which serve as a warning for our bleak future, Demain takes the audience on a trip to see initiatives from all over the world: Detroit and Todmorden's urban farming movement, Iceland’s green energy transition, and Finland's educational reform. For its efforts, Demain won the Best Documentary prize at the César Awards in 2016, and scored 92% on RottenTomatoes.
The conversation takes place on Tuesday and is free to get in. The screening is 70rmb. Both events include drinks and snacks but an RSVP is required, which you can do here.
