Hey another indie book fair! The ABC Art Book Fair has been happening annually since 2015 at M21, the Minsheng Art Museum. It’ll be a weekend-long exhibition of indie publishing groups, mostly art books and magazines like Radian and Lost. Check out all the contributors on their site. Running all weekend long: Friday (3-8pm), Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm. Free entry.
All the indie publications featured at the Jululu Indie Book Fair have moved to a Muse Mart pop up shop in 1933. Muse Mart’s also hosting some workshops this weekend for couples and BFFs, from ‘make your own leather notebook’ to an ‘intimacy through imagination’ workshop. A package for two is 399rmb. They run from 11am-6pm, both Saturday and Sunday. The event is this weekend, the pop-up shop will stick around till September 3.
‘If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball’ and other lessons at Cages on Monday. Join a pick up game of dodgeball (no set teams) and get some of that it’s August-in-Shanghai aggression out. Also maybe meet some new friends. Win-win. Games start at 8pm, open to everyone.
Social Supply hosts a movie night and they do it big. They’ve been holding these movie-and-cocktail events since March and have done American Psycho in a replica of Patrick Bateman’s apartment, Catch Me If You Can in an airport, and Lost in Translation at a hotel. This month's movie is Christopher Nolan's The Prestige, but the location is still a mystery—you gotta buy tickets to solve it. Costs 220rmb and includes 3 drinks made by Chris Xi (Blackstone Magic Bar), and starts at 8pm.
