Originally positioned as a dinner-to-cocktails-to-cocktails-and-food concept that was taking Shanghai by storm in 2016, it was reasonably priced and, by our account, pretty good. The name "Dozo" lasted about a year before it changed to "Dozo / JA Tasting Temple." The reason given at the time was that the Dozo would be used for the fusion-y Japanese offerings, while Tasting Temple reflected the "new menus with fusion food." Shortly after that, it changed to "Dozo / JA Tasting Lounge," and the "Dozo" name was retired at some point in 2018. Finally, the name changed to "JA Quality Eats & Bar," which was... baffling. It's not clear why it closed down (though the name progression suggests an increasingly desperate attempt to get people to eat and drink there), but it's suspiciously close to the closing of 10 Corso Como at the Northern Annex of Wheelock. Coinkeedink? Maybe. Anyway, RIP whatever your name was.
