Scarpetta has been open for lunch for a couple of weeks now, and I finally got a chance to check it out. It's a smallish menu, featuring nothing but panini sandwiches. And they use that term loosely—they don't grill or press them—but their semantics are forgivable. They're pretty tasty sandwiches, and it's a solid deal.

They offer six different sandwiches, stuffed with everything from meatballs to mortadella to coppa to fresh buffalo mozzarella on ciabatta bread. With that you get a choice of pasta salad, Caesar salad, or daily soup. We rolled up and ordered one with prosciutto, buffalo mozz and pesto and one made with finocchiona, a Tuscan salami made with fennel, and praga, and Italian cooked, ham topped with garlic aioli, piquillo peppers tomato and arugula. 68 and 58rmb respectively with a comforting bowl of homemade tomato soup. Nice.

They do lunch every Monday through Friday, from 11.30am to 2pm. Click here for more details.
