Sushi Oyama, and the Rest of the 20 Donghu Lu Villa, to Close Next Month
By Nov 8, 2018 Dining
Shanghai is nothing if not change. The latest is bad news for Sushi Oyama fans though. The popular sushi-ya, often considered the best in the city (though some in Gubei may disagree), will close in mid-December and then Oyama-san is off to Japan for a break. He may or may not come back to Shanghai. He just hit his 10-year anniversary here and he's still undecided. Don't go, Oyama-san! It's just not him, though. The whole villa is going to clear out.

Dao Jiang Hu, the Chinese fusion restaurant on the ground floor, will take up a new location with a bigger menu and more Chinoiserie decor, on the 3rd floor of the Heyday building, above French bistro Chez Maurice. Racines, moving out with no clear plans to relocate. Ochobo too.

The word is that rents have just gotten too high in that building for businesses to continue, though all of them moving out at the same time suggests the landlord may just want the building back for some other reason. Can we suggest a sexy tapas place?
