Upcoming Openings

It was slow going this time last year. Nary a blip on The Radar for weeks, if I recall. But it looks like the Dragon is an auspicious zodiac sign for restaurant births. We've got lots in the pipeline already.
In the immediate future, there is el Willy's long awaited migration to Bund 22. They're slated to open mid February. It looks everybody else in town was waiting for Willy to dip his toes in the pool first, because now the folks behind Le Creperie are opening an oyster joint called L'Ecailler. Napa Wine Bar & Kitchen are suiting up to jump in as well with a "wine-related concept" that "may or may not be called Napa again," in owner Philippe Huser's words. That's coming a little later in the year, though. Oh yeah, then there is Bocca, Shanghai's 700 gajillionth Italian restaurant. That arrives in February as well.
Shanghai's 700 gajillion and first Italian restaurant will open shortly thereafter near the Old Town. This one is called Otto e Mezzo Bombana and hails from Hong Kong with three Michelin Stars. You can learn more about it here.
Back on the Bund we've got Cuvae moving into Lounge 18's former digs. I know next to nothing about this place, but I can't wait to hear all of the stories about how people waited there for hours before they realized they were supposed to meet their friends here, while the others ended up here and how one poor schmuck wasted his whole night walking up and down Kangding Lu, because he thought everybody was supposed to meet here.
Looking further into the future, we've got Larder, a new concept from former Mesa & Manifesto Steve Baker. He's not saying much about it just yet, but, judging from the name, I'd guess that there will be lots of meat involved. Look for a late March/early April opening.
