Sounds Of Childhood: Pixar In Concert Coming To Mercedes-Benz Arena In August

TELL EVERYONE

Turns out the formula of "famous movie + live orchestra" is super popular (see The Lord of the Rings Live Accompaniment). Disney's stepping up to the plate with a two-handed grip on Pixar In Concert at Mercedes-Benz Arena. The world's most famous animation studio, the one that made "Toy Story" and isn't Dreamworks, Pixar isn't as famous for film scores as its parent company, even though Michael Giacchino's soundtracks for Ratatouille and Up, and Randy Newman's Toy Story 3 have won Grammy and Academy Awards! Who doesn't remember the jarring tone shift in "Granny Get Your Gun," or the delightfully chirpy start to "Giving Muntz The Bird", or that track at the start of UP when everyone was bawling their eyes out ("Married Life").

Anyway, here's a chance to hear a live orchestra perform tracks from Toy Story, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Inside Out, Coco and more, while they project film clips on a gigantic screen. It's on August 11, which is a long way away, but scalpers tend to swarm anything Disney-related. Click here for Pixar In Concert tickets, starting at 180rmb.
