[UPDATE] A Guy Called Gerald Can't Make It, Cancels Shows
By Aug 4, 2017 Nightlife
Cancellations suck. Acid House pioneer A Guy Called Gerald was supposed to play a set at Xixi Bistro last night and Elevator tonight. We got word early this morning that neither of those things have happened/are happening due to "unforeseen circumstances." Full statement from the organizers after the jump.

Here's the statement:

It is with heavy, heavy hearts that we have to announce that A GUY CALLED GERALD, due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, will be unable to perform at [today's] party with Holly Sh*t and Redbox. Gerald was really excited to come back to Shanghai, and we are working together to reschedule a show as soon as possible with the guy who's inspired us, and so much of the dance music world. The night - with special installations from The Texture Group - will still go on, with some of our favorite local guests added to the lineup playing special acid tribute sets.

Bummer. So, party's still going on, without the headliner. It's free before 11pm, and after that, they're dropping the price to 50rmb. Anyone who bought presale gets in for free, which... well, yeah.

[UPDATE: The organizers say that anyone who bought presale will actually get their ticket refunded and free entry to the party. Good on them.]

Meanwhile, if you're looking for musical pioneers, Grandmaster Flash got his visa sorted no problem and is playing at Le Baron. If you're looking for musical pioneers to drop acid to (not recommended or endorsed by SmSh), ASIANDOPEBOYS and GMU STUDIO are teaming up at ALL.
