Comedy This Week and Beyond: KFK, SCC, Zmack, and Punchline
By May 18, 2016 Nightlife
After the big comedy festival a few weeks back, we've been experiencing a bit of a dry spell in terms of international headliner comedians performing on Shanghai stages. Looks like there's some talent heading our way this week, however, along with the usual offenders from Shanghai's own comedy promottions

Forecast calls for h-i-l-a-r-i-t-y. Here's what's happening...

Quinn Dahle @ Kung Fu Komedy Club on Friday and Saturday

KFK is bringing in comedian Quinn Dahle for two nights. The man's appeared on Tonight Show, Showtime, Comedy Central, Lopez Tonight, and Carson Daly. His comedy is fun and tends to have twist punchlines. You can catch some of his material here on Youtube. He's doing a bit for the "Jon Lovitz Presents" Showtime, drawing from the well that shall never run dry: relationships. Pretty funny stuff. Starts at 8.30pm on Friday and 8pm and 10pm on Saturday. Tickets are 170rmb in advance or 200rmb at the door.

Comedy Showcase @ Lapis Thai on Saturday

Shanghai Comedy Club is still out of a home. Their showcase on Saturday happens at Lapis Thai (yes, the Thai restaurant) with a line-up of Shanghai-based comedians. Spicy, spicy. Price for the comedy is 70rmb, including a drink. That starts at 8.30pm.

Superhero Improv @ Finger Moving on Saturday

Zmack does a superhero-themed improv show at Finger Moving, a DIY dessert shop. Expect geekdom and a lot of inside jokes from the DC and Marvel universes. Cover is 100rmb with a drink. Starts at 8pm.

Whose Line Is It Anyway @ The Exchange, Zapata's, and The Kerry Hotel from May 26-28

Later this month, Punchline brings Andy Smart, Stephen Frost, Steven Steen, and Ian Coppinger for another "Whose Line Is It Anyway" show for improv fans. The show features short games with stories and jokes made up on the spot. You can see Stephen Frost and Steven Steen performing on the UK TV series here on YouTube. We've got the tickets on SmartTicket for 290rmb, and as always, they're delivered to your door and you can pay in cash.
