Touch Our Buttons and Random Encounters bring another Checkpoint! Shanghai Gaming Fair 2.0. This year it'll be a one-day event at People Squared (P2) in Jing'an. The DIY locally produced gaming fair aims to foster and grow the Shanghai gaming community by hosting video games, board games, workshops, talks, and VR demos. Will run from 2-9pm; free to enter and play. Scan the QR code on the flyer to register.

Shanghai's LGBTQ nightlife rebels, Snap!, are doing their Snap! Party Cruise, launching themselves into the center of the river, "under the halo of the city's most iconic skyscapes. Come enjoy the cruise(-y) breeze, take in the gorgeous Bund view, and dance to the summer beats by DJ Heatwolves/Love Bang. The ticket also includes the after party at the amazingly versatile venue, Daliah." Ticket is 200rmb, including entry to the after party; after party-only ticket is 60rmb.

Luuv Label hosts the The Fifth Shanghai Shoegaze & Dreampop Festival at Yuyintang Park with a line-up that includes Tamaryn from America and five bands from East Asia and two bands from China. Expect a packed hour of introspective kids out for this huge concert, replete with DJ after party talent booked. Big one to check out new, emerging rock from China and beyond. Tickets: pre-sale for one night: 209rmb; door charge: 249rmb. Pre-sale for two nights: 399rmb. Student tickets: 379rmb. Starts 7.30pm on both nights.

The kids at The Mansion go for a full-on S&M themed night out in Hongqiao, with whips, chains, rope, leather collars, crotchless pants, bondage gear and ceiling suspensions. Ask about the dungeon in the basement. 100rmb including five drinks before 1am. Bring your own ballgags.

Carlos Sotomayor, the chef behind the cuisine at elEfante and Ekeko, takes over the kitchen at Shake for a Pop-Up Peruvian set dinner. They're going for a full supper club experience, featuring cocktails by Colin Tait and Shake's bar team. The Shanghai Sheiks will also be providing the live funk and soul you need after dinner. Four-course dinner is followed by Shake's "7 Queens of Soul" concert. Dinner from 6-10pm, 399rmb per person.
