March 25: Mao Livehouse Reopens

Hey, do you like to rock? Here's some news to facilitate your rocking:
After shutting down their Red Town venue, Shanghai's Mao Livehouse is opening their Chongqing Nan Lu location (specifically 308 Chongqing Nan Lu, near Jianguo Zhong Lu) on March 25 with a bit of an odd one. It's a double-booked night with a Jue Festival gig taking up an earlier performance slot -- headliners are Shanren, which is a folk rock band from Beijing (and support from local rock act, Joker) -- with tickets to that 40rmb at the door and 60rmb in advance. Also booked on the night is German import Paul Kalkbrenner, a big name in techno / downbeat circles, hosted in Shanghai by promoters, The M (they did Boys Noize and others). Tickets to Kalkbrenner are still TBD but separate and extra, and it's happening right after the Jue Festival folkie thing. Anyways, here's to hoping the two crowds get into a Sharks and Jets-like confrontation when one set files out and the other in. Doesn't get more disparate than Beijing folk and German techno.
And for the night after that, on March 26, the Saturday, it's Haggai, also in for the Jue Festival -- in for another round of Mongolian pride and binge drinking.
The Thursday, March 31, it's reggae group Lions of Puxi, probably putting on a big one for their first time at the new venue, getting to the bottom of whether you puxi or not. Well, do you?
So that's Mao Livehouse's... umm... eclectic comeback schedule.

typos yes... sorry about that. was tired at the end of the day and scrambling to put this on...yeah, I heard Mono were going to be playing some festivals as well. That would be a sight to see -- that band playing to thousands and thousands of people.

Yeah it would be a sight alright. Well, y'know, for like four or five songs. Even with a big crowd, after a while you'd still want someone to singPlease sign in or register to comment
