Couple of Mongolian things going on this week, care of DJ B.O, Shanghai's hardest-working Monglophile. Tomorrow night it's this screening at the Apartment. The film's called Across the Sacred Land of Chinggis Khan, and it's about a city in northern Mongolia called Darkhan. The place was only built 50 years ago but the film uses it as an access point to explore the long and eminently rad history of the nation, plus number-one marauding bad boy and father of 16 million descendants, Genghis Khan.

Screening's free and there's a Q&A with director Javka Ara. Film is in English and Mongolian with English subs. Drink specials in effect. Starts 8pm.

Then on Saturday, the Mongolian hordes ride roughshod all over Yuyintang's face with this fella. (Inner) Mongolian folk music from Ajinai and Guren, rock from The Horde and Death to Giants, photography and painting from Mongolian artists, plus a preview of a few sections of Rock Naadam II, a film by Rob Wallace.
