Pete Rock Confirmed for February

These days all you're thinking about is stock-piling explosives for the upcoming Chinese New Year -- let fire rain down from the heavens like a cleansing tide -- but already we're hearing rumors of big name bookings for the "busy season" in Shanghai. The busy season being the stretch of months after CNY into the summer. Feels like it's going to be a good year for the musiks. We hear that a newly renovated Yuyintang is booked solid right into summer, some huge things are being planned at the Mercedes Benz Arena and Split Works' Jue Festival in March seems to be taking shape nicely. And now add onto that a show by Pete Rock at The Shelter on February 25. One of the seminal hip hop producers from the '90s and beyond -- credits include A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots and Gang Starr -- Pete Rock is hailed as one of the all-time greats, usually alongside DJ Premier no less, and his debut performance in Shanghai should be quite the big thing.
