Split Works Went and Booked Some Alright Bands

By Morgan Short, Jan 10th, 2012 | In Nightlife

A bold salvo early in 2012 from local promoters, Split Works (promoters of, most recently, the Black Rabbit Festival and indie pop singer, Laura Jansen), who have a couple of big names lined up in the coming weeks. Hey, check it out. Some shit worth seeing.

February 24: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ Mao Livehouse

Impossible-not-to-like, New York-based twee, indie pop band, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart coming to Shanghai for the first time. Here's their big hit, "This Love is Fucking Right", and this song is great too. Just some warm fuzzy tunes, friends. This show is fucking right.
For Jue Festival: Death Cab for Cutie

And returning for its third or fourth time or whatever, the multi-venue, multi-day, multi-genre, multi-concert -- multi, multi, multi -- festival event, Jue Festival is on in Shanghai in March, with the centerpiece band for that being one of the biggest college rock bands of the '90s (remember when they called it college rock?), Death Cab for Cutie.

Here's a random Death Cab vid. Death Cab for Cutie Russian Roulette, if you will.
