The Final Comedy of Masse On Jinxian Lu
By Mar 25, 2016 Nightlife
Beloved pool, poutine, and comedy place Masse and the Shanghai Comedy Club (located on the third floor) are slipping into oblivion this weekend, and they're planning on going out in spectacular fashion. They’ve got three shows lined up, starting tonight with their final Open Bar Open Mic sesh at 8.30pm. Expect this to get nuts.

Then on Saturday night, they’ve got a showcase tribute show to a comedian that formerly performed at their club, Aaron Ayotte, who sadly passed away at the young age of 29 a few weeks ago. Proceeds from the night will go to his family.

"We’re going to show some of his reels that we recorded,” says Masse's owner, Pauly. “[We'll] tell stories about him. It’s going to be really funny and a roller coaster ride of emotions. Everyone loved the guy."

On Sunday, improv group Zmack performs another unscripted, off-the-cuff show at 6.30pm and afterwards, Masse runs it’s last Sunday open mic night at 8.30pm.

Pauly is already looking at several venues for their next location.

"In a couple week’s we’ll have a new space. [In the meantime] we’re going to doing open mics in different places and keeping the comedy alive."
