Straight from The Windy City to our city is hallowed children's and punk rockets cable access TV show Chic-a-Go-Go, filming an episode in Shanghai this Saturday night at Yuyintang. A hybrid of children's puppet show and televised rock and roll dance party (think "Soul Train" and "American Bandstand"), since first airing in the late '90s, Chic-a-Go-Go has hosted a who's who of American indie / punk rock acts for cable access TV performances: including Butthole Surfers, Fugazi, Guitar Wolf, Iggy & The Stooges, Yo La Tengo, Tortoise, X, Motorhead, and more. The list goes on.
Check it out, Lil Ratso and Mia getting the scoop. Go go, Chic-a-Go-Go.
So, the Shanghai version of this is happening with Ratso and Mia in town to film and interview a bunch of our wonderful local Shanghai talent (apparently with a puppet translator!). Torturing Nurse is on the bill, Shanghai's favorite children's entertainment. Details here.
