By Jul 20, 2016 Nightlife
Dropping in on the world of comedy, the Kung Fu Komedy Club has veteran stand-up comic Matt Davis in for a two-night stint on Friday and Saturday. Originally from Alabama, Davis has been in the game for two decades, performing at comedy fests in San Francisco, Montreal, and Toronto, and appearing regularly on Sirius XM. His website is "currently not available", but you can check out his sketch about mermaids on YouTube to get an idea of his style.

His shows are at 9pm on Friday and 8.30pm on Saturday. Tickets are 100rmb in advance or 150rmb at the door.

Over at the Shanghai Comedy Club camp, they've just opened two new nights every week at at American heart-attack food restaurant Ruijin Cajun.

They take over half the restaurant in a room with about 40 to 50 seats. On Thursdays, they do an open mic, where anyone can sign up to tell jokes for five minutes. Those who do well enough might be asked to become a regular and perform in their Saturday showcases. The open mics are free and the showcases are 70rmb with a drink. Both nights start at 8.30pm.
