This Weekend: Shelter's Sixth Anniversary
By Nov 28, 2013 Nightlife
Another weekend, another birthday, this one from The Shelter. To celebrate, they're doing two-for-one drinks on Friday and Saturday night until midnight. That's on all drinks. First time I've ever seen a drink deal at Shelter. Nice, nice, nice. OK, in fact, they're doing two weekends of anniversary parties. This is the line-up:

Friday it's Quality Control with a night of hip hop, funk and soul, staring local DMC champions Monk and HBD with RawB and V-Nutz playing Afrobeat, funk, soul, Latin and hip-hop. That's 30rmb on the door. Then on Saturday SubCulture, which also celebrates its birthday (it's like The Shelter's mutant basket-case twin brother) has Demon Slayer playing live.

He's a producer based in Saigon who's putting out a release early next year on SVBKVLT, the SubCulture record label. Acid Pony Club are also play live, with Beijing's

Yauman DJing alongside Robjam, Faded Ghost and Drunk Monk: 50 kuai seems like quite a bargain for that.

Then next weekend SubCulture's back on Saturday with one of their favorite guys, Kode 9. He played their fifth anniversary last year. Now he's back for more post-dubstep stuff. On the same night they'll have Downstate playing live.

Next Friday, VOID is also bringing in the majestic tweaker James T. Cotton, JTC, a new-school acid house hero, who'll be DJing for them. More on that next week. So, back-to-back ninja weekends for The Shelter.
