[Weekend Mixtape #3]: Shanghai Trap Bangers, Serbian Techno, Russian Trance
By Jul 29, 2016 Nightlife
We're finally slowing down a bit with all the DJ bookings, settling into that deep summer come-down. There's still some good music on this week though, including the release party for a fresh new EP from Shanghai-based producer Downstate. Here's five songs by artists playing Shanghai this weekend. Tunes are on Soundcloud, so light up that VPN.

1. "Devil Worship You" by Downstate, who plays Shelter on Friday

Icy trap beats from Shanghai's biggest Carl's Jr. and Sega Saturn Fan. This guy has been grinding forever.

2. "Dubplate Foundations Mix" by Popasuda, who plays Dada on Friday

Summer vibes. No one in China is messing with Skinny Brown's dubplate game.

3. "Kek" by Arabyrd, who played Le Baron on Thursday

Straight out of Kuala Lumpur. Kind of an M.I.A. feel to her style.

4. F.A.R., by Scalameriya, who plays Arkham on Friday

Twitchy, skittering Serbian techno that sounds like it was made live.

5. "Distant Power" by Alexander Popov, who plays M2 on Saturday

Straight up big-room trance. Intense.
