This weekend it's the Zebra Music Festival, a three-day party on Jinshan Beach, an artificial beach about an hour outside of Shanghai. There’s 20 local and international bands playing, plus a bunch of Shanghai and Beijing DJs and the chance to get out of the city, feel the sand between your toes and have a little splash around in the sea. Tickets are still available at the gates for 150rmb per day.

This is the second time Zebra's hosted a festival near Shanghai. The last one was in August 2011 and looked a bit like this. The bulk of the bands this time are Chinese. Big-deals include Taiwanese / American poster boy Stanley Huang; Qu Wanting, a Harbin-born singer-songwriter who’s blown up recently in Canada; Nova Heart, Helen Feng's solo project; Beijing pop-punk-ska act Caffe-In and foreign acts Yoko Yazawa from Japan, Kite from Sweden and Groove Coverage from Germany. There’s also an electronic stage with DJs R3, Linfeng, Zammo, Ado, HBD and others.
