More good news: you can pay cash on delivery. And now that these Topshop threads arrive from within Chinese borders rather than being flown across continents, there's just a flat shipping fee of 20rmb per order. If you spend 500rmb and above, then shipping is free.
According to the ShangPin website, shipments to Shanghai typically take 1-3 days to arrive and there's a free 7-day return policy.
For those who might be unfamiliar with Topshop, it's a fashion label from the UK. Pricier than Zara, but still fast fashion. It describes itself as the "ultimate fashion fix!" proffering "eclectic British style" to people who put together street style with the swipe
of a credit card. If you've seen any photo gallery of music festivals like Glastonbury or Coachella, then you've basically flipped through a Topshop catalog.
Anyway, the site's only in Chinese, but it's easy enough to navigate and process checkout even for those who have difficulty reading hanzi.
Here are the three phrases you'll need to know:
加入购物车：Add to cart
Clicking on the red "立即购买" (buy) button will take you to the registration/login page. You can log in with your existing Alipay, Weibo or QQ account. If you don't have any of those, then fumble your way through the registration without bothering your Chinese friends for help. It's easy enough with some copy+paste and Google Translate.
Quick reality check, though—there's still a noticeable markup in what we pay. For example, this coat currently sells for 85 pounds (848rmb), and this bag is 45 pounds (449rmb) on the Topshop UK website—versus 1080rmb and 650rmb for the same products on Topshop's ShangPin page, respectively.
At the very least, this seems to indicate that what we're getting on ShangPin is pretty up-to-date with what's available in the UK, even if it's a significantly smaller selection. No sign of Topman stuff for guys just yet, though. We'll keep you updated on that if we see it.
