Evildoers in Changning district beware - starting Sunday the cops are packing guns. Shanghai Daily just reported that all officers in the district are getting 9mm pistols as part of a new push to respond quickly to violet crime such as the attack in a Yunnan train station a few months back.
You may know Changning district as the home to many Japanese and Korean taitais, the dragons that live in Zhongshan Park, that chicken shop we reviewed a few weeks ago, and Dada Bar.
This is the first time that regular police officers in Shanghai will carry guns on the beat. Of course, that's been the norm in Hong Kong for ages. What do you think of this? Feel safer?
