Hot Thespian Action: PRIDE Theatre Happenings

By Jun 13, 2014 Stage

TELL EVERYONE

More Shanghai Pride goings-on for your cultural agenda this weekend, with the opening performance of a two-night run of Rendez-Vous over at Strictly Designers United this Sunday. We caught the dress rehearsal last night and it’s pretty good – big issues, dark secrets and some pretty compelling performances from Bon Wen, Amanda Daniels and Paul Collins.

The plot sees the unraveling of what must be the mother of all love triangles – a rocky marriage, a chance encounter with a handsome stranger, and the life-changing consequences of reckless romance. It’s part of Pride’s ‘Identity’ series, and as such, revolves around themes of honesty, acceptance and assumptions. Central to Rendez-Vous’ storyline is transgender transitioning, the physical and mental challenges it entails, and ultimately, its possibilities for happiness, and that simple sense of completeness that loads of take for granted.

Well worth a watch, performances are this Sunday 15 June and Friday 20 June. For details, click here.
