Probably! Although according to Shine, Pudong Int'l Airport rates an 82.73% for average flight punctuality, while the OAG's 2019 Punctuality League report, which covers these sorts of things, states the average for large airports worldwide was 81.9%. Either way, S1/S2 has a lot of new boarding gates and a lot of new jet bridges, which means a lot less flights will need buses to ferry passengers out to the waiting aircraft. 90% of passengers will be able to board directly from the terminal building. Currently it's about 50%.
Everything to do with check-in is still taking place in the old T1 and T2. If there’s a ‘G’ or ‘H’ on your boarding pass, you're boarding at the satellite (S1 or S2) terminals. Get on the purpose-built metro after the security check and it’ll take you there within two and a half minutes. Those run every five minutes. For those arriving at the new facility, hop on the shuttle to get back to T1 or T2 for immigration, luggage claim, etc.
