If there was ever a reason to dress smart and cough up, it’s got to be charity — and this Saturday’s fifth edition of the
Shanghai Red Ribbon Gala happening at the
Andaz (Xintiandi) is no exception. Benefits from Gala go straight to the
Shanghai Qingai Health Center, an NGO that provides
medical and
counseling services and actively works to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention.
Hot spoilers of the event include the appearance of celebrity
Jasmine Chen, Shanghai-based jazz singer who also starred in
Crazy Rich Asians, 100+ shiny prizes up for grabs, and an auction for autographed memorabilia in addition to being served a 4-course dinner. But aside from the glitz and glam, the real takeaway is what the Gala stands for: support those affected, mourn those who have been lost, and advocate for the elimination of discrimination and stigmatization of people living with the disease.
