This exhibition showcases 49 masterpieces from Venetian Painting, including works by Venetian masters such as "Flora," "Venus and Cupid with Dog and Partridge," and "Portrait of Vincenzo Mosti," as well as 8 exquisite oil paintings by Titian. In addition to the "Big Three" of the Venetian Painting—Titian, Veronese, and Tintoretto—there are also works by other Venetian masters such as Giorgione and Lotto.

The Fire of Anatolia, renowned Turkish dance group, that brings the rich culture of Anatolia and the magic of dance on the same scene in a magnificent style, became the first dance group that performed in The Building of China Parliament. The group performed for an audience of four hundred thousand people, all standing, in Eregli, in the Black Sea region and holds the title of “Largest Audience” in the Guinness Book of World Records for this performance. They were also the first group performing in the Bodrum Antique Theatre after 2300 years. Fire of Anatolia has reached over 50 million people both in foreign countries and homeland since their debut in 2001.

No Square, a Swiss modern jazz band founded by German bassist André Hahne in 1994, featuring saxophone, jazz piano, bass, and jazz drums, presents their unique jazz with simple melodic lines and richly changing rhythms. Clubbing

Italian techno virtuoso Massimiliano Pagliara, say that again, bring his hypnotic sound this Friday to Potent. Combining elements of deep house with Berlin techno synth he creates a pleasantly evocative sound. He is also known to drop disco and electro as the night calls for it.

Shanghai artists, Monoblade, bring their live analog synth, drum, and sampler machines this Friday to Playground. I’m all for checking out duo-type performances, especially if live is on the docket. They promise aggressive drumming with acid bass and psychedelic timbre. Never heard of that last one, but the bar has been set for some unique sounds that are promised to be dance-worthy.

HÖR ON TOUR - Shanghai

HÖR is tied to that bathroom tile room DJ set you’ve seen played by some techno acid house killer artist before. Formed by two dudes in Berlin to build a new concept of music performance and style, Saturday brings one of their own, Darzack, to Shanghai. Called hybrid live, afro acid is mentioned as his specialty which speaks wonderfully to me. Supported by an armada of local DJs, such as the likes of Lina K or J.R.G, the list goes on and on, it’ll be a full night to be sure.

There it is, Celia’s big bash of the year. Got to be proud of ol’ Celia for keeping it going as Shanghai’s longest-serving underground club. Anniversaries tend to bring a packed crowd. All local Celia OG DJs will be showing up to provide and revel in the celebration that is Celia’s 8th birthday.

Live Music

The Godfather of Shanghai jazz, Shanghai pianist Huang Jianyi is as influential as he is prolific. A graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the veteran got his start in 1999 with the band Footprints, among the first revivalist jazz acts to emerge out of China, and from there became a staple of the jazz scene here in Shanghai. He’ll be giving a special showcase at the newly minted JZ Club in Huangshan 8 - presenting new works from his latest solo piano album "April - Up”, with visuals courtesy of artist Han Han (also known as Gooooose - the accomplished electronic producer maverick).

Chengdu’s Jade Breaking Plan for Liberty go for broke on their sophomore LP - The Sun-Quenching Chronicle - a sprawling carnivalesque swirl of grunge, metal, core, jazz, prog, and blues rock that dedicates itself to the ‘shadows, sacrifices, and dust in the era of madness’. Crafted together with manic literary glee and anarchic irrelevant - it’s guitar rock that happily goes off the deep end - injecting a restless spirit of experimentation and fusion that threatens to collapse in on itself every track. The band is kicking off their nationwide tour in support of their latest - with a stop at VAS tonight.

trigger - the epicenter for noise, experimental, and other offbeat sound explorers - hosts a very special guest - Seoul-based composer and improvisational musician Jin Sangtae (who also runs the South Korean experimental music venue dotolim). He’ll be joining a slew of trigger faves including guitar manipulator Zhu Songjie joining Mai Mai; sound artist Sun Yizhou, Shanghai Free Music Collective member Zhao Junyuan, and noise junkies Torturing Nurse and Shuride. A hefty lineup to quench those in need of something pure, jarring, and unexpected.
