Activities
Hangzhou International School (HIS) offers over 100 Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) to almost all our students, from our young learners in Kindergarten through to Grade 12. The Co-curricular program allows students to develop talents in an environment that promotes the growth of leadership and communication skills all while being hands-on and engaging, whether that is physical, creative, social, or community based, including a diverse range of activities such as Robotics, Jiu-jitsu, Chess Club, West Lake Model MUN, or Ceramics.
In addition, we have our many team sports, which include the main four: basketball, volleyball, football (soccer), and swimming, alongside many others such as table tennis, floor hockey, tennis, cross country running, track and field, cricket, golf and touch rugby.
At HIS we are proud to be part of a larger network of schools' activities associations that provide students with opportunities to compete and network in other cities throughout China and in countries beyond. These include HISAC (competition for Hangzhou schools), SISAC (mainly Shanghai schools and others in eastern China), and ACAMIS (China-wide).
Reviewed every year, the activities are well-funded and run by our staff alongside select external providers, with the program overseen by our Director of Activities who helps set clear goals and rationales for each activity, organizes domestic and international events, and ensures all activities help to build confidence, teamwork, and healthy competition.
