LAYLiVE transforms the Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai into a “city camping ground” where audiences listen to music inside tents. The 90-minute performance features fingerstyle guitar and electronic elements across nature-inspired soundscapes like forests, bonfires, ocean waves, and rain.
LAYLiVE is presented as a “lie-flat music concert” experience where audiences listen to music inside tents rather than seated in a traditional concert setup. The 2026 edition expands the experience with immersive sensory elements including soundscapes, lighting design, and scent-based atmosphere.

The performance lasts 90 minutes and combines fingerstyle guitar performance with themed segments inspired by nature, including forest, bonfire, ocean, and rain. The show also includes a segment introducing fingerstyle guitar concepts and listening techniques.

The venue is transformed into a camping-style indoor environment, with tents designed for individual or shared use.

James Zhou Jing

A fingerstyle guitar performer and educator. He is also listed as Vice President of the Fudan FASC Innovation & Entrepreneurship Club, a film producer in audio-visual content, and founder/CEO of Shanghai Jiangzi Music Culture Communication Co., Ltd.
He has received multiple competition awards and has experience in television performances, music festivals, and concert production.
Ye Ye (叶晔)

A Chinese musician working with Roland and other music technology platforms. He is associated with synthesizer and music equipment testing and music production work.
He has served as music director, performer, and synthesizer/keyboard player in various projects including Shanghai Fashion Week, Shanghai Theatre Academy productions, Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe collaborations, and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra-related performances.
The concert is structured into four themed sections:

Each segment is performed using fingerstyle guitar arrangements and is designed to represent natural environments through sound.
The performance includes a segment explaining fingerstyle guitar and listening awareness.

This performance offers a non-traditional concert setting where audiences experience music while lying down inside tents, with an emphasis on relaxation and sensory immersion. It may appeal to audiences looking for a quiet, slow-paced listening environment rather than a conventional live music format. The combination of nature-themed soundscapes, guided listening elements, and tent-based seating creates a format that differs from standard concert experiences.
