Miguel de Cervantes Library and the Mexican and Filipino Consulates will present a symposium on the Manila Galleon, the ship whose route established Spain, Mexico and the Philippines as the main characters during the first pattern of globalization in the 16th-17th centuries. Events held in Spanish and Chinese. Free to attend and open to entire public.

April 3, 7pm: “Historical Introduction to the Manila Galleon”, by Dr Dolors Folch, emeritus professor at Barcelona Pompeu Fabra University April 4, 7pm: “The Galleon and the Philippine Culture”, by Dr Fernando Zialcita, professor at Manila Ateneo University April 5, 7pm: “The Galleon Impact in the Ming Dynasty”, by Dr Han Qi, professor at Tianjing Nankai University April 6, 4pm: “New Spain, the American end of the Manila Galleon”, by Dr Carmen Yuste, professor at National Autonomous University of Mexico April 6, 6pm: closing round table, moderated by Dr Carles Brasó Broggi, professor at Catalonia Open University
