About

Colorful production of a new musical about the gangster days of Shanghai. Set in the 1920s, Shanghai Bund tells the love story between Cheng Cheng, the daughter of a wealthy Chinese buisnessman, Feng Jingyao, who conspires with the French, and Xu Wenqiang, a young man torn by his desire to get rich and his love of China. With beautiful costumes and choreographed fights, they obviously put some money into this. The performance is in Mandarin, with English and Korean subtitles projected on the walls, and not at the easiest angle to follow while watching the action. Not The Book Of Mormon, but not without charm, either. Nice old theater too, with it's own convenience store -- you can bring in snacks and beers. Show starts at 7.15pm every Thursday-Sunday, and we've got tickets starting from 180rmb here.
