About

Group exhibition Crossovers looks into the role of artists in shaping and reshaping collective visual memory, the creation of new myths, and the ways in which time can be manipulated on film. Exploring this 'mythologization' of images are archival images to manufacture new narratives, as well as particular moments in history re-imagined via a new visual identity. To that end, you've got Thomas Sauvin‘s archive of negatives, snapped in Beijing in the decades following the Cultural Revolution. Elsewhere, Yto Barrada‘s Hand-me-downs project sees the the artist illustrate her own family history through strangers’ home movies found at flea markets. Also on show are works by João Penalva, Ho Tzu Nyen and John Akomfrah. All of that opens 13 June, 6pm - 9pm
