Driven by shared enthusiasm and a sense of adventure, the musicians who make up the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (Netherlands Wind Ensemble) pursue their own brand of musical theatre, which has resisted precise definition for half a century. The NBE plays music of all times, genres and cultural backgrounds, as long as it stimulates the senses and stirs up the imagination. On stage, the ensemble is known for its tireless energy and mischievous sense of fun. They're in Shanghai for one night in December, playing a broad and eclectic array of pieces, from Shostakovich's "Romance from the Gadfly" to Yang Muyun's "Mu Guiyung" and "Wedding" by Kinan Azmeh, to Mozart's "Gran Partita (Adagio)" and Prokofiev's "Dance of the Knights."
