Sleeping Beauty, the classic tale perhaps most famously told by Disney, is adapted to ballet by the Russian State Ballet, with stunning set pieces and colorful costumes! When the curtain rises, the court assembles for Princess Aurora's christening, with the fairy godmothers present their gifts. The evil fairy, Carabosse, overlooked by the master of ceremonies, enters and curses Aurora: the Princess shall die on her 16th birthday after pricking her finger on a spinning wheel. But the Lilac Fairy hasn't given her gift; she cannot lift the curse, but she can change it. Aurora shall not die, but instead sleep for one hundred years, to be awoken by a Prince's true love's kiss. Here's a chance to see this classic story performed by the Russian State Ballet Theatre, which, with over 20 years, remains one of the leading Russian ballet companies.
