Pottery Workshop's movie night is screening the classic "Raise the Red Lantern", directed by renowned Fifth Generation director Zhang Yimou and starring the incomparable Gong Li. Set in the Warlord Era of the 1920s, this is the story of Songlian (Gong Li), who becomes the third concubine of a wealthy man, and the dramatic scheming and plotting that takes place in his household. Zhang Yimou’s stunning cinematography, with its breathtakingly opulent visuals and sumptuous use of color, is reason alone to see this. Considered one of China's best films, it won 14 awards. Free, there's a Peddler's gin happy hour starting from 6pm, with cocktails at RMB 50.
