About

Join Historic Shanghai this Sunday, and explore the architecture of one of Shanghai’s masters, French Alexandre Leonard. His buildings are legend--the Cercle Sportif, the Amyron, the Midget, the Willow, the Rong villa, the Magy, and many, many more—and so is his story. Alexandre Leonard was part of one of the most successful architectural practices in old Shanghai, Leonard, Veysseyre & Kruze. He continued to design well after his partners left Shanghai in the 1930s. He designed his final building for his great love, a Russian cabaret dancer, but then he vanished without a trace after the end of World War II, and the mystery has never been solved. Come and hear the stories of Leonard and his architecture, who he built them for, who lived in them then, and what happened in the generations since. RSVP to book and for meeting point: info@historic-shanghai.com. 150rmb for members, 250rmb for nonmembers.
