In the late 1930s, 20,000 European Jews fleeing Nazi Europe made their way to Shanghai, a safe haven when all other doors were closing. In this alien city, they had to make a home and a life in extremely difficult circumstances. Join to explore the history of Shanghai’s Jewish ghetto, and the places where the refugees lived, worked, and played. We’ll also take a look around the neighborhood, which contains what was once Asia’s largest prison, as well as an historic Sea Temple.
