An original creation by the Shanghai Ballet in collaboration with famed Italian-born French fashion designer Pierre Cardin, "The Last Mission of Marco Polo" is themed after China's ’Belt and Road’ initiative, told through the story of Marco Polo returning home to Venice. As part of his journey, he offers to escort Princess Cograta, princess of the Yuan Dynasty, to Persia where she is due be married. Over the two year voyage, told in three acts, they experience adventures and tribulations, before finally reaching their destination. A tale of heartache, nostalgia and romance in far-off lands.
