The Shanghai Grand Theatre has curated a series of concert to celebrate in memorial of Beethoven’s 250th Birthday. Conducted by Xu Zhong, the curator of Shanghai Opera House and one of the most preeminent Chinese contemporary conductors, the concert series features Beethoven’s Piano Concerto from No. 1 to No. 5. The Shanghai Opera House Orchestra will be playing with pianist Zhang Haochen. Haochen was the receiver of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Haochen has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the BBC Proms with Long Yu and the China Philharmonic; the Munich Philharmonic with the late Lorin Maazel at a sold-out tour in Munich and China; the Easter Festival in Moscow by special invitation of Maestro Valery Gergiev; the Sydney Symphony and David Robertson during a China tour; and the NDR Hamburg and Thomas Hengelbrock. Praised for his excellent technique and artistic expression on the piano, Haochen will bring a impactful performance of Beethoven’s classics.
